Academic communities do not sustain themselves automatically. Journals, scholarly associations, peer review, and collaborative networks shape how ideas circulate, how debates evolve, and how future research agendas emerge. I view participation in these spaces as an important intellectual responsibility.
Editorial Leadership
A central part of my academic leadership is editorial work. Since 2025, I have served as Associate Editor at the Journal of European Public Policy (JEPP), one of the leading journals in European studies. This role allows me to engage closely with emerging research and contribute to shaping debates on European politics, governance, and international affairs.
Previously, I served as the ‘Robert Elgie’ Editorial Fellow at Government and Opposition (2018-2024), where I gained first-hand experience of the editorial process and the collaborative labour that sustains high-quality academic publishing.
I also edit the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) Loop series on EU Enlargement Dilemmas, creating space for accessible and policy-relevant scholarly debate.
Professional Leadership
My academic leadership also extends to professional governance and scholarly communities. I serve on the Executive Committee of the Council for European Studies (CES). Among other roles, I served as a Section Officer for Comparative Politics at the American Political Science Association (APSA). These roles allow me to contribute to the development of research communities and support dialogue across different traditions and generations of scholarship.
Building Research Communities
At the European University Institute, I co-direct the European Governance and Politics Programme (EGPP), where I work to strengthen interdisciplinary dialogue on European politics and governance and support collaborative research initiatives.
More broadly, I view institution-building and academic networks as essential infrastructures for intellectual exchange. My work seeks to create platforms that connect scholars across disciplines, regions, and professional communities.
